News from the Guidance Department

                        

The School Counselor at William Lenoir is available to assist students, teachers and parents with school and family concerns. Several ongoing projects include the Communities In Schools and 8th grade Career Guidance. Courtney Swanson is the School Counselor at William Lenoir.

All 8th grade students will participate in small group guidance with Mrs. Swanson to explore careers and to work on their career planning portfolio. This group benefits students by helping them plan ahead, gain a sense of direction and be more prepared for high school.

 National Center to Improve Special Education This site provides updates for special education teachers to keep up with the latest developments in technology and to gather new ideas and approaches to teaching students with special needs.

Prevention Yellow Pages A worldwide directory of information for helping children.

Kidsource This site focuses mainly on health and education related issues and was created by a group of parents.

Tutor 2000 This site has detailed information on finding a tutor or becoming one.

 College Comparisons Comparative information for a large number of higher education institutions in the United States.

Learning Disabilities Online This interactive guide to learning disabilities is a must see for parents, teachers, and children. A special section for children includes games and activities.
